The public establishment had wanted to pay the sum to a Luxembourgish construction company. 

However, after receiving an email in English, which the housing fund believed to be from the real company, requesting the sum be transferred to a Poland-based account, the establishment did just that—only realising later they had been scammed after the real construction company inquired about the missing payment.

Diane Dupont, president of the housing fund, said police were investigating, RTL confirmed.
