According to figures published by internal security minister Étienne Schneider in response to a parliamentary question, there were 2,028 people employed by the Police Grand Ducal on 1 January 2017. This shows a constant increase from 2010 when force numbers stood at 1,749.

In 2017 the majority of employees (1,812) were classed as officers, up from 1,593 in 2010. Civilian staff numbered 216, up from 156 in 2010.

Schneider disclosed the figures in response to a parliamentary question jointly submitted by MPs André Bauler and Max Hahn.
