Cyril Molard was awarded his second Michelin star at the ceremony at the Horeca Expo in Ghent on Monday evening. His Ma Langue Sourit restaurant in Moutfort was one of three establishments in the guide newly decorated with a second star. Since being awarded with a first star nine years ago, Molard has renovated the premises; an effort that has paid off. The newly refurbished veranda further integrates the restaurant into its forest surroundings. Molard’s resident sommelier Anthony Masson was selected as Sommelier of the Year by the 2019 Gault & Millau guide.

Among the seven new restaurants in Belgium and Luxembourg to be presented with their first star is Les Jardins d’Anaïs in Luxembourg City. Only opened in June this year, the restaurant was quickly able to convince gourmets and the Michelin jury of its worthiness. Annabelle Hazard and Pascal Soutiran’s restaurant places an emphasis on local produce, artfully prepared by their renowned chef Christophe Quentin, who worked along Alain Ducasse in the restaurant of the Eiffel Tower for nine years.

The Michelin guide 2019 for Belgium and Luxembourg will be available as of 22 November and lists a total of 139 establishments.
