Cinema: One of two Luxembourg entries has been honoured with an Academy Award.
A Grand Duchy produced film has received an Oscar nod. Zeilt Productions’ “Mr Hublot”, a futuristic story about a man and his dog, won in the animated short category early on Monday morning Luxembourg time.
“It’s my first movie as director and producer, and the first movie for Alexandre [Espigares] as co-director,” Laurent Witz said in his acceptance speech, which was broadcast on American TV network ABC. In addition, Witz wrote and was cinematographer of the film.
“I feel it’s an American dream,” he said.
Among others, he thanked Luxembourg’s Film Fund and France’s cinematography institute and the region of Lorraine, which also supported the movie.
