American Friends of Mudam is set to launch on 30 May at Luxembourg House in New York City, US in the presence of museum director Suzanne Cotter, Friends of Mudam president Diane Ackerman, and consul general to Luxembourg in the US Jeanne Crauser, among others.

Established as a not-for-profit, the organisation’s mission will be to acquire and encourage gifts of works of contemporary art, and to raise funds for Mudam exhibitions and educational programmes.

Its board members will be Diane Ackerman, Michel Franck, as secretary, and Mike Ansay, as treasurer.

According to the museum’s latest figures published in its 2017 annual report, the venue has seen visit numbers rise constantly since 2013. In 2017, it received 99,865 visits. It currently relies heavily on state subsidies with the state giving €7.3M in 2019, up from €7.1M in 2018.
