Almost 1 on 5 people polled in Luxembourg do not use social media platforms, a survey has found.
The question of the month posed by TNS Ilres in November looked into why people in Luxembourg use platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter privately.
It found that 17% of respondents did not use social networks. Over half (55%) of all those polled said they used them to keep in touch with friends, 4 out of 10 to keep track of news, while a third used them as a distraction or a way to spend their free time.
Around a quarter used social media because they wished to see what their friends were doing, to share photos or videos, or simply because all their friends were on these platforms.
