- Jean-Marc Fandel has been named CEO of Euroloan in Luxembourg. The Finnish firm, which also has units in Sweden and Poland, specialises in highly automated consumer credit services. Fandel, formerly head of the payment services firm Cetrel, will lead Euroloan’s international development operations.
- The German space group OHB SE has launched Blue Horizon, which has the ambitious aim of creating the necessary conditions for sustainable life in space. The subsidiary is also backed by the group’s investment arm, OHB Venture Capital, and Betzdorf-based LuxSpace.
- Assets under management in Luxembourg-based investment funds increased more than 10% between January 2016 and January 2017, according to the CSSF. The amount rose to nearly €3.8 trillion, the grand duchy’s financial regulator reported.
- Chief executives in the grand duchy are more optimistic about the business climate than the global average, the “CEO Survey” published by PwC Luxembourg has found. 51% of Luxembourg CEOs were confident that their business would grow during the coming 12 months, compared to the worldwide average of 38%.
- Ten publications received €7.4m from the government last year under Luxembourg’s press subsidy scheme, roughly the same figure as in 2015. Three newspapers received more than €1m each in 2016: Tageblatt (€1.7m), Luxemburger Wort (€1.5m) and Le Quotidien (€1.3m).
