The railway stop was renovated after two level crossings were removed from the stretch of track that connects Pétange and Esch-Alzette, CFL said in a press release on Tuesday.

Eliminating level crossings on Luxembourg’s train network is a “priority project for the coming years”, CFL stated.

The level crossings in Oberkorn, which is part of Differdange commune, were replaced by an underground pedestrian tunnel and a passageway under the tracks for vehicles.

In addition, crews installed new electric traction equipment.

Construction began in July 2013 and was completed in August 2018. The project cost €18.5m, plus an additional €670,000 for translucent soundproofing walls.
