Held during the annual Sonic Visions music industry conference at the Rockhal, the Luxembourg Video Clip Awards attracted some 50 entries this year--a sign of how the local music scene has mushroomed since the VCAs were first launched in 2013.

Awards are presented in four categories. The winner of the best upcoming young director was given to Cedric Letsch for his work on Austinn’s latest song “Olivia”. Another young director, Kevin Risch, landed the audience award for German-language rapper Brebo’s “6 Stunden”.

But the main prizes went to Gwenael François for his cinematic, and violent, video for “Paprika”, the title track of the new album by afro-math-rock band No Metal In This Battle. Produced by Skill Lab and shot by director of photography Julien Becker, the video stars Sophie Mousel. It won the best music video and jury awards.
