The petitions to parliament opened for signature on Friday and can be signed by anyone living or working in Luxembourg until 30 March.

Among them is petition 944, calling for suppliers of fruit and vegetables to list the pesticides used in their production in clear labelling.

Petition 960 calls for the speed excess margin permitted by speed cameras in Luxembourg to be raised from 3 kilometres to 5 in order to avoid late breaking, which leads to accidents and traffic flow interruptions during rush hour.

Petition 948 calls for the state to relax the rules on the minimum lunch break length, currently 1 hour.

A petitioner has called for the government to make a legal challenge against the German motorway toll scheme in petition 953, while the person behind petition 913 wants the government to create a quality label for construction firms to encourage transparency and prevent fraud.

Also in the realm of housing is petition 945, calling for a standard sales agreement model to limit abuses and protect both buyer and seller. The petition suggests, for example, limiting the number of loan refusals (3 with some estate agents) or provide a minimum period of time for a credit institution to give a response.
