His first trial in a car which had not been tuned, saw him lead for the race for nine laps before being pushed off the track five laps from the end, forcing him to give up.

In the second race, Pereira was sixth off the grid but made a remarkable comeback to finish in third place.

“Despite a car that could not be optimally tuned, Dylan Pereira has shown excellent flying skills beyond Britain's Glynn Geddie, Al Wahaibi of Oman and Dutchman Charlie Frijns to ensure a good run with Luxembourg colours on the road,” his press team said in a statement.

The winner of the race was Al Zubair of Oman with Briton Tom Oliphant finishing in second place. Pereira is in the Middle East preparing for his 2018 season in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. He is expected to race in the next stages of the Porsche GT3 Middle East Challenge Cup next Friday and Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

Pereira, who is a member of the Luxembourg army sport elite, was crowned Luxembourg motorsportsman of the year earlier in January.
