A video posted on the Luxembourg Police Facebook site shows undercover police spokeswoman Carine pocketing phones, bags and a skateboard with ease and replacing them with a message from the police. In the video she even strolls off with three unattended push chairs without the owners noticing. All of the stolen objects were returned to their rightful owners.

Despite a strong police presence, each year scores of people are victims of pickpocketing at the annual fun fair, though unlike those involved in this exercise, few are reunited with their possessions. “What struck me was the ease with which I could steal things,” the spokeswoman was quoted by L’essentiel as saying.
