Almost nine out of ten people surveyed in Luxembourg said they were very interested in national politics in the grand duchy.
And it was not just the Luxembourg nationals who showed an interest, according to the TNS Ilres survey results.
82% of foreign residents said they were interested in Luxembourg politics, despite the fact they will not be eligible to vote in the next legislative elections scheduled for October 2018.
The question of voting rights for foreign nationals was among three issues raised in the 2015 referendum, in which Luxembourgers voted overwhelmingly against the motion. Foreign nationals are, however, permitted to vote in communal elections provided they have been resident for five or more years. They may also vote in the European and social elections.
The survey was conducted as part of the question of the month series, surveying 518 people aged 16 and above.
