The centre helps children express themselves through techniques such as animal-based therapyPhoto: Luxembourg Red Cross

This Red Cross therapeutic centre in the east of Luxembourg offers therapeutic services for children and adolescents showing signs of psychological suffering.

The centre helps children express themselves through techniques such as animal-based therapy, therapy through art, puppetry and games.

The visit, on 24 August, examined the progress that had been made from the €73,000 raised in last year’s race, which was the second edition.

In 2016, 173 children and their families had therapies at the Kannerhaus Jean. Half of last year’s proceeds will help pay for the construction of a new centre and residential psychotherapy unit. New facilities for out- and day patient services will open in September 2017 while inpatient care will be available from September 2018.

Registration is now open for the 2017 RBC Race for the Kids, a 5k fun run taking place at the Parc Dräi Eechelen in Luxembourg-Kirchberg from 11am on 22 October.
