That’s according to figures released by Eurostat on 28 December 2018.

The EU statistics agency reported that restaurant and hotel spending represented 2.5% of the country’s GDP, or about €1.37bn. The number increased by around 40% over 2007 (although its share of the economy is roughly the same).

Luxembourg household expenditure on restaurants and hotels in 2017 was below the EU average, which Eurostat said was 8.8%. The biggest shares were recorded in Malta (20.2%), Cyprus (17.5%) and Spain (16.8%), while the lowest share were found in Romania (3.1%), Poland (3.6%) and Lithuania (3.7%).
