Fireworks banned in some towns for security reasons
Esch-sur-Alzette, Petange, Fischbach, Berdorf, Mersch and Erpeldange/Sûre are the towns which have announced that they will ban the use of fireworks and firecrackers on New Year’s Eve, according to RTL.
Esch published a notice on its website on 15 December, stating the ban was for security reasons, to protect animals, and to keep public spaces clean.
The statement by Mersch town council calls for a “responsible use of fireworks on New Year’s Eve” and bans the use of fireworks near buildings for security reasons. It also appealed to people to fire them off in a short period and to limit the number.
