According to environment minister Carole Dieschbourg, CFL is to install sound-minimising walls at Schifflange’s train station and in the built-up areas around the rail tracks in the town.

Also in the south, in Berchem, they will install a 300-metre noise-minimising wall beside the rail track.

This marks the continuation of a strategy begun by CFL ten years ago, Dieschbourg explained responding to a parliamentary question.

The strategy involved focusing on train stations using a “z” shaped sound-wall specially developed for CFL. Recently in Luxembourg, CFL tested “raildampers”, specially made sound-absorbant accessories for rails.

Dieschbourg was responding to a parliamentary question from MP Max Hahn.
