The female sender wrote that the minister's hairstyle was a "no go" and claimed it was an embarrassment to herself, her family and the country. She added that only by changing her hairstyle would Tanson be on par with fellow female politicians, such as Luxembourg City mayor Lydie Polfer and LSAP minister for equality Taina Bofferding (though the author called them "Lydia" and "Tania"). She added that the minister should colour her hair to get rid of the “horrible grey”, and also get some new outfits, but closed by adding she had only good intentions by offering her advice.

Tanson replied via Facebook that her hairstyle was "staying”, and that people should pay attention to what she said and follow what she did, rather than how she looked.

Tanson’s supporters took to Twitter, sending her encouragement--not to mention several face-palm memes and sad emojis.

“I’d take the look as very good and self-confident,” responded Romain Becker, consulting engineer.

“Stay the way you are,” added Sven Fischer. “We don’t need a representative Barbie as a minister…but a competent person who knows what she is talking about and stands up for that!”
