Tower

A creatively made docu-drama by Keith Maitland that details through eye-witness accounts of the University of Texas at Austin mass shooting in August 1966. One of the first events of its kind in the United States, a sniper killed 16 people and injured two dozen and held the campus hostage for some 96 minutes. Maitland uses archive footage which he has animated, and actors to give voice to the witness accounts, to create a film packed with tension and emotional punch.

Free Fire

The latest film by acclaimed British director Ben Wheatley is “bold, breathless and wickedly fun”. Set entirely in a Boston warehouse in the 1970s during black-market weapons deal, the film unfolds into a free for all gun fight. Comparisons to Tarantino’s “Reservoir Dogs” are inevitable. Brie Larson and Cillian Murphy are among the cast.
