The equal opportunities ministry, employment ministry and social solidarity ministry announced the launch in a joint statement on Thursday, saying it included a face-to-face service at ITM offices and info line for employers and employees.

The service, which began on Thursday, is available at ITM offices in Esch-sur-Alzettte, Diekirch, Strassen and Wiltz. People can call the information hotline by dialing (+352) 247-76102 from Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 12 noon, and from 12:30pm to 4:30pm.

Luxembourg voted a law on equal pay on 15 December 2016 penalising employers for pay inequalities based on sex. Equal opportunities minister Lydia Mutsch said since then things have shifted. “Luxembourg has moved from a wage gap between men and women from 8.6% to 5.4% in 2017. But our commitment must continue. Women still earn less than men. It is important to react!”

In addition to the new ITM service, the ministries have jointly published an information leaflet on equal pay to inform and signpost people to further services.
