More than 10,000 people attended this year’s Relais pour la vie, a 24-hour solidarity relay at Luxembourg’s Coque leisure centre.
Now in its twelfth year, the event is organized by Luxembourg’s Cancer Foundation and offers teams a chance to enter the 12 or 24-hour relay.
Through the relay runners and walkers can help raise money for cancer charities and show their support for people battling cancer.
This year 375 teams of 20 to 40 members from all walks of life participated and some shared their photos with Delano.
Each year the ceremony closes with an empowering word or words spelled out with candles in the centre of the arena. This year, the sentence for “AVEC VOUS” (with you).
Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel said in a speech at the venue that people should show solidarity for those fighting cancer every day. “We should not only think of them during these two days but all throughout the year,” he said.
