Starry, starry nights

Tourism at home: This week continues its series of eight things to do and see if you are staying in Luxembourg this summer. Today: open-air cinema.

Starry, starry nights

Each summer the Cinémathèque unlocks its archives and screens a series of films for free in the courtyard of the Capucins theatre every Friday and Saturday night. Screenings are at 10 p.m. and the season starts on July 8 and runs until August 13--when the Cinémathèque team transfers to the Schueberfouer on the Glacis for special Crazy Cinématographe screenings of silent films in a show tent.

The 2011 Summer Follies programme features opens with Casablanca and also includes the 1933 version of King Kong, Chaplin’s Modern Times, The Seven Year Itch with Marilyn Monroe (photo) and modern classic such as Edward Scissorhands and The Big Lebowski.
