Ten things to do

Panel discussion Thursday 26 February

Make in India

The Indian government has launched a new investment promotion programme. Are there opportunities for Luxembourg firms?

Make in India

“Make in India” is New Delhi’s official campaign to attract international manufacturers to set up facilities in India.

The programme’s website, for example, spells out market opportunities, financial incentives and relevant contacts for 25 sectors, from automotive and biotech to renewable energy and space.

“The initiative provides support through new policies, speedy clearance, skilled resources, best-in-class infrastructure and offers attractive investment opportunities across a wide range of industries with business access to India’s huge domestic market in addition to global exports,” says the Indian Business Chamber of Luxembourg, which together with the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce is organising a “Make in India” panel talk on Thursday.

Speakers include Carlo Thelen, head of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce; Manjeev Singh Puri, India’ ambassador to the EU, Belgium and Luxembourg (pictured speaking with Luxembourg’s deputy prime minister, Etienne Schneider, last year); Sam Schreiner, the Grand Duchy’s ambassador to India; Heike Carl Zatterstrom of Boson Energy Luxembourg, which makes biomass energy production equipment; and Francis Michaud of Paul Wurth, which makes furnaces for iron and steel plants.

Registration opens at 5.30pm and the panel talk starts at 6pm, and will be followed by a networking cocktail.
