Is the upcoming referendum important for Luxembourgâs international community? A former government minister provides his perspective.
Luxembourg nationals 18 and older head to the polls on 7 June to decide three questions.
Should the voting age be lowered to 16?
Should non-Luxembourgers who have lived in the Grand Duchy for at least 10 years be granted suffrage?
Should government ministers be limited to 10 years in office?
This week the Danish Church holds an informational event ahead of the vote. “Claude Wiseler will talk about the upcoming referendum and impact for the non-Luxembourgish community in Luxembourg.”
Wiseler has been a member of the Chamber of Deputies since 1999 and currently is president of the Christian Socialist People’s (CSV) party bloc. He served as infrastructure and sustainable development minister from 2009 to 2013, and public works minister and civil service minister from 2004 to 2009.
The event begins at 7pm. Entry is €15 at the door. Book in advance via [email protected] or via the church’s website.
