The Moselle is rightly renowned for its wines, but distillers along the river also have a reputation for producing quality spirits.
If you like Moselle wines but occasionally have a hankering for something a bit stronger, then the Miselerland brennt! day is right up your street.
Six distillers in towns along the river open up their doors for public visits and showcase the art of distilling: Distillerie Zenner in Schwebsange, Distillerie Rhein-Glock in Erpeldange (Remich), Brennerei Weber in Wormeldange-Haut, Distillerie Diedenacker in Niederdonven, Distillerie Max Lahr & fils in Ahn, and Distillerie Streng in Grevenmacher.
Each distillery will also be serving up lunch menus and putting on entertainment such as tours in old-timer cars, workshops and play corners for kids. Booking should be made in advance for the lunches.
But in addition, selected restaurants in the region--the Nid Gourmand in Mondorf, the Pressoir and Esplanade restaurants in Remich, Pier29 in Stadtbredimus and Le Chesnoy in Grevenmacher and Wasserbillig--will also be serving special menus featuring dishes that accompany local spirits.
Voyage Emile Weber is putting on special Event-Bus Services for the day and visitors can even use bicycles or e-bikes to travel between the distilleries.
