Ben Shepard is throwing a final hurrah for his Uzi & Ari project before it “metamorphosises” into YEYEY.
Uzi & Ari has had a good run; producing four albums over a nine-year span (interrupted by Shepard’s forays into the studio and on tour with Arms and Sleepers) that has seen the group garner acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork and Sputnik Music and become adored by discerning fans in the States and Europe.
Albums such as 2006’s It’s Freezing Out and 2008’s classic Headworms highlighted Shepard’s talent for making entrancing, delicately structured songs that slowly draw in the listener--comparisons to Kid A era Radiohead, minus Johnny Greenwood’s distinctive guitars are not far off the mark.
Joining Ben Shepard for the final tour are Juilliard master violinist Sarah Koenig Plonskier and Arms and Sleepers alumnus Kyle Courcy on percussion. Accompanying the music with visual projections is digital artist, producer and DJ Jonathan Higley. The set will, by all accounts, also be peppered with a couple of new songs from the upcoming YEYEY record.
