Ten things to do

Fantastic fest Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 March

Engage with Luxcon

Want to learn Klingon or how to sword fight like Game of Thrones dancing master Syrio Forel? This year’s Luxcon provides an opportunity to do just that and more.

Engage with Luxcon

The second Luxembourg science fiction, fantasy and horror fan convention promises lessons in the Star Trek language of Klingon as well as a “water dancing” swordplay masterclass with actor Miltos Yerolemou, who played Syrio Forel, the teacher of young Arya Starck in Game Of Thrones. Those are just two of the highlights of the two-day fest, which includes plenty of entertainment and debate as well as a cosplay contest.

Guests alongside Yerolemou include fantasy and sci-fi authors Aliette de Bodard and Adrian Tchaikovsky. A host of local talent including award-winning body artist Lynn Schockmel and young illustrator and author Sabrina Kaufmann will also be at Luxcon.

On the more serious side of the fest, presentations will be given on a range of topics from JRR Tolkein to how to be safe as a cosplayer, from a dissection of the past year in fantastic cinema to a personal account of decades of fandom. But there is plenty of interactive action as well, including a cosplay contest, a young Jedi workshop and a live escape challenge as well as the chance to play some vintage arcade games.
