Hailed as a new star of electronica, Sohn is about to release his debut album, Tremors, on 4AD.
Christopher Taylor, aka Sohn, has been championed by the likes of Radio One’s Zane Lowe (who made single ‘Artifice’ his “Hottest Record In The World”) and Pitchfork is also impressed, hailing last year’s track ‘Bloodflows’ for its “silky vocals and understated, mellow tempos.”
Debut album Tremors, released this week on cult label 4AD, has received equally positive notices, with Laurence Day in a review in The Line Of Best Fit saying that the record proves there is “a meaty pop aspect to Taylor’s sunrise anthology” and that some fans might be “sorely disappointed in the lack of future garage plastic.”
However, says Day in a bid for a place in the annals of Private Eye’s “pseuds corner”, “if you want to dive into a gooey, spiritual bout of hypnagogic jamais vu, then Tremors will be your guiding light.”
Sohn appears at Exit07 in a show promoted by Rockhal.
