For the second summer in a row, the Ville de Luxembourg is setting up an outdoor cinema near the grand ducal palace.

The City Open Air Cinema with Orange can seat up to 500 spectators and is free of charge. The films will be shown on a giant, inflatable screen at around 9.30 p.m. (after sundown).

The programme features a slew of classic comedies, dramas and thrillers. It starts this Friday with a musical that audiences will hope is far from appropriate, Stanley Donen’s Singin’ In The Rain starring Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds.

On Saturday Sean Connery stars as James Bond in one of the best films from the 007 franchise, From Russia With Love.

Last year’s Oscar-winning lost in space drama Gravity with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney is also on the programme, as is one of Alfred Hitchcock’s lighter films, The Man Who Knew Too Much starring James Stewart and Doris Day.

More films are on show during the week of July 29 to August 2.
