The contest “aims to uncover outstanding fintech startups with a Luxembourg connection and open doors for them in the Luxembourg financial centre,” according to KPMG.
The startups had been selected after an online application round that closed in April.
On Monday evening, judges looked at the relevance of each startup’s business model, the uniqueness of its offer, and how well the entrepreneur pitched their endeavor.
The finalists will participate in the last round of presentations during the consulting firm’s summer “KPMG Plage”, its annual summer series of events. The prime minister, Xavier Bettel, and finance minister, Pierre Gramegna, are expected to attend the ceremony.
Three prizes will be awarded at grand finale on 21 June:
“Fintech startup of the year”, winning €50,000 and four months at the Technoport incubator;
“Fintech entrepreneur of the year”; and
“Best pitch”.
