Luxembourg Comedy hosts an international line-up of acts for two shows in one evening. Among the performers are Canadian comic Zoe Brownestone, who performs in Luxembourg as part of a European tour, Belgian comic Christophe Bolsius, David Chi and Deepu Dileepan.

3.     Grevenmacher wine festival

4.     Long live the summer

5.     Strossefestival

A major highlight of the late summer period, the bi-annual event features a varied programme that celebrates and offers street art performance, shows, live music, food, drink and international culture on several sites in the center of Strassen, where 16 artists and groups will perform a total of 26 shows this year. 

Initially scheduled for 12 September 2020 the event will take place on 11 September with free antigen tests available on site.

6.     Luxembourg Open Air Festival

This open air festival promises a “new musical experience in the heart of Luxembourg”. Saturday’s line-up features Danko, Quintino, Himmelfahrt, Maqossa and Smack. On Sunday, catch Mr Belt and Wezol, Justin Mylo, Fabian Farell and Iceleak.

7.     Discover Luxembourg

Explore different facets of Luxembourg City during the Discover Luxembourg event, a walking rally through the capital during which participants take on various challenges.

This year, the 6.25km course will start and finish in the Parc Pescatore with specific tasks to be completed at designated event stations along the Limpertsberg area, and a chance to win prizes. 

Due to the pandemic, and following the cancellation of last year’s event, the event has been adapted to welcome 50 teams of four people, who are free to wear colour-coordinating t-shirts, or t-shirts form past events. An online prize giving ceremony is envisaged.

Like in previous years, the 13th edition of the event promotes charities and will support the Ilula Orphan Program in Tanzania.

8.     Mother Courage and Her Children

Catch this one-off performance of one of Bertolt Brecht’s greatest plays, performed by The Great Poets Society. The ensemble from the University of Luxembourg will bring to life an abridged version of this tale of survival and profit during the 30 Years War. Tickets are free but advance registration is compulsory.

9.     Naturmusée-Fest 2021

Sunday 12 September, 2pm-6pm.

📍Luxembourg National Museum of Natural History (MNHN), 25 rue Münster, L-2160 Luxembourg-Grund

During the event a series of workshops on nature and the environment is envisaged for both adults and kids. The sessions will showcase twenty animation stands, tours of the laboratories and collections, craft workshops, games and discovery tours. Workshop sessions will include creating organic and ecological food packaging, customising your own leaf print bag, bringing back animals in paper form, viewing plant life with the help of binocular magnifiers and more. Kids will be able to create their own bouquets, and even grow their own virtual forest.

Events will take place at the Naturmusee and Neimenster on 12 September. Participation in the workshops and admission to the museum are free after mandatory registration.

10.  British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg

16-25 September 2021

📍Cinémathèque and Ciné Utopia, Luxembourg City

Enjoy a ten-day film marathon at the 12th annual film festival showing different genres across the British Isles (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). Organised in a hybrid format combining both online and in-cinema screenings, the programme includes 21 films out of which 16 will be shown in cinema and nine in the online format. 

Films in the cinema format will be shown at the Cinémathèque and Ciné Utopia. 

Prices range from €3.70 to €9 for adults. Special tickets offering a reduction are available on demand.

The festival opens with the film Herself telling the story of a young mother escaping an abusive husband and a broken housing system. The movie is directed by Phyllida Lloyd, also the director of Mamma Mia and will be shown at Ciné Utopia on 16 September.
