On 12 February 2025, the Luxembourg authorities released further details of the cocaine seizure carried out last week in Luxembourg. A total of 889kg of the drug, estimated at €80m-€160m, has been extracted.

Following the press briefing on 7 February 2025, judicial authorities confirmed in a press release on 12 February that the forensic police had succeeded in extracting all of the packets hidden inside the three rollers of a crusher seized on 6 February.

The total weight of the cocaine intercepted was just over 889kg. The market value of the seizure is estimated at between €80m and €160m, depending on the negotiated price per kilo or the street retail price.

It all began when the police reported to the Luxembourg City Public Prosecutor the suspicious arrival of a crushing machine on grand ducal territory, suspected of having narcotics concealed in its rollers. Located in the north of the country, the machine was closely monitored before the prosecutor’s office referred the matter to their counterpart in Diekirch, which has jurisdiction there.

Following a court order, . During the operation, it was found that two of the three road rollers “had already been dismantled,” the public prosecutor’s office stated. “However, the individuals who had been working on them had not succeeded in piercing them and had finally abandoned the rollers and the machine on the spot.”

“The cocaine will be destroyed as soon as possible,” said the authorities. They added: “Two people are currently in custody.” For the record, their homes have already been searched.

“The judicial investigation is continuing. Given the early stage of the investigation, no further information will be released at this time,” the statement concluded.
