For a taste experience apart, look no further than New Bona Via. The cuisines of Luxembourg, Italy and France are combined to perfection using fresh produce, and there’s the added bonus of a sunny outdoor dining area!
New Bona Via Brasserie has been one of Bonnevoie district’s must-visit restaurants for nearly eight years, although its history dates back to the 1950s. In those days, it was called “Chez Lilly” and catered for the neighbourhood's Italian emigrants. And while its name has changed, it still holds dear to its Italian roots, blending them with the culinary traditions of Luxembourg.
At lunchtime, there are plenty of diners keen to discover what makes the set menu so popular. There’s a choice of a dish of the day (€13.50), a starter and main course (€16.50), a main course and dessert (€16.50) or, for bigger appetites, a starter, main course and dessert (€18). The icing on the cake is that dessert is free on Fridays!

Chef Michel Gessa introduces two or three tastebud-tantalising new suggestions each week. New dishes that are love at first bite or hit the spot with diners get added to the menu, sometimes as a starter, sometimes as a main course. The most popular dishes include the melt-in-the-mouth lamb shank and the country-style salad made the old-fashioned way.
Fresh produce, always
Regular updates to the menu showcase seasonal produce such as asparagus, mussels and game, reflecting the chef’s passion for using the freshest ingredients to produce home-made dishes. “We don't serve anything frozen, apart from our ice creams.” You can also sample specialities such as wäinzossis sausages and feierstengszalot, a meat salad.
When the mercury rises, we go for the most refreshing dishes on the menu, kicking off with a colourful Italian starter of tomato mozzarella pesto. Next up is a delightfully summery vitello tonnato, a Luxembourg tradition. Our meal ends on a deliciously extravagant note with profiteroles covered in chocolate and topped with whipped cream. There’s a good range of house wines and Luxembourg beers to go with your meal, as well as classic cocktails.
If you’re looking for a vegetarian or vegan alternative or even a particular kind of produce, the restaurant will make every effort to accommodate your request. Upcoming theme evenings will feature dishes such as grilled meats or scampi.
