After 12 years as the presenter of Ara City Radio’s breakfast show, Sam Steen is leaving for pastures new.

Tom Clarke is going to have to get used to rising early on weekdays as he takes over presenting the flagship breakfast show on Ara City Radio from Sam Steen, who is moving to join RTL. Tom will be joined by newsreaders Simon Claridge and Jazmin Campbell between 6am and 9.30am.

“We wish Sam all the very best in the future,” said Lisa McLean, coordinator of the international programmes on Radio ARA.  “We are excited to have Tom taking over the desk, we look forward to fresh new music and vibes on the morning airwaves, and I am confident Simon and Jazmin will help him get the hang of the early mornings.”

Tom, who is fluent in English and French, grew up in Luxembourg and even had his own show on Radio Ara’s Graffiti youth show slot - The Meltdown made its debut over 12 years ago. A graduate of the European School, Tom went on to study at Glasgow University and became involved in that city’s dynamic music scene. He went on to work as a concert programmer, as well as branching out with his own music production and DJ sets. He has also made shows for several radio stations around the world.

“I want to bring my own style to the show,” Tom said. “Yet there are so many great features, but so many new ideas. I am looking forward to discovering with the listeners what works and what their preferences are. I am also excited about the growth I’ve witnessed in the Luxembourg music scene; so I’m looking forward to connecting with many of the musicians here as well as tapping into my international network of musicians for interviews”.
