Motivated by the desire to support the victims of the Russian-Ukrainian war, The Store on the Avenue de la Liberté  is now selling beers from the Ukrainian brewery Varvar Brew.

In Luxembourg as elsewhere, initiatives to to support Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis it is going through are mushrooming. The latest ideas from The Store, located in the Gare district of the capital, is to import beers from the Ukrainian brewery Varvar Brew.

Varvar Brewery was founded in May 2015 in the suburbs of Kiev. Closed since the end of February following the Russian offensive, the brewery still wants to sell its stocks and, at the same time, raise funds to cover its fixed costs (taxes, salaries) but also to help meet the country's needs for medical supplies and food. "The situation in Kiev is unpredictable [...] Let's hope that every beer that leaves the country can provide real pleasure, and even play a role in keeping our fight alive," said Martin Dawson of Varvar Brewery.

Classic and bold flavours

The Store on avenue de la Liberté, has added six bottled beers from Varvar Brew to its inventory. They include a Golden Ale, stout, Blanche de blanche and milk stout…

But aficionados of more original flavours are not being left out. The Ukrainian brewery’s specialist beers are also available in 33cl can format. These include eight brews that bear unique names and can  designs: Black Bean (imperial stout with tonka bean), Switch (APA), Barrel Faker (foreign extra stout)... and a special mention for Double Dragon Milk, an imperial stout flavoured with chipotle pepper! The beers are priced between €4 and €4.90.
