The year 2025 is starting under the same auspices, with Luminescences 3 Magic Indies welcoming its 100,000th visitor on 1 January, one month earlier than the previous edition. This success is already encouraging our teams to prepare an even more spectacular fourth edition.
The Amnéville Zoo is experiencing significant growth in several areas. Group attendance has risen by 17%, confirming the growing interest in our offers for work councils and associations. The 2024 Christmas Tree Festival attracted 10,130 participants in just seven days, including 46 work councils. The Luminescences Festival was a major contributor to this success, offering visitors a magical experience.
The number of schoolchildren welcomed increased by 16% in 2024, confirming the zoo’s role in environmental education. Thanks to a special rate and an enhanced educational offer, more and more schools are choosing the zoo for their educational outings. The visits, which can be free or supervised, enable pupils to discover biodiversity in an interactive way that is adapted to each school cycle.
Events are up 63%, with 137 events organised this year compared with 85 last year. Among the highlights, the SNCF chose our setting for a corporate gathering, Miss Lorraine was elected in October in front of a large audience and the Elena Dance Gala welcomed Chris Marques. The Tiger Cup, organised by FC Metz, attracted 800 children, and CHR Metz-Thionville welcomed 1,500 people for its New Year’s Eve ceremony. These successes reinforce the zoo’s image as a key venue for private and professional events.
The Amnéville Zoo is continuing its commitment to the region through key partnerships. With FC Metz, it supports the club throughout its Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 campaigns, through match sponsorships and family initiatives. A collaboration with the Muse shopping centre enabled a stage at the Luminescences Festival to be exhibited, raising the zoo’s profile with the general public. The zoo also takes part in local events such as the Braderie de Printemps in Metz and has a partnership with Mondelange town hall, offering educational activities on biodiversity until July 2025.
Commitment to conservation remains a priority. In 2024, 30,000 visitors were made aware of biodiversity issues at dedicated events, and €12,500 was raised to fund conservation actions. The zoo also took part in a project to reintroduce Ural owls in collaboration with a German association, enabling an individual born at the zoo to be released in Bavaria to bolster the wild population.
New species joined the zoo in 2024, some rare in France such as the fossa, roan antelope, skunk, Mississippi alligator, European otter and Bengal cat.
