The French qualified actuary has some 15 years of experience across the European insurance market

Afaf Hounka has returned to PwC Luxembourg where she began her career in 2007. A French qualified actuary with FRM certification, Hounka has some 15 years of experience working in Luxembourg, Switzerland and France for both domestic and international insurance players. She arrives from Paris, where she was associate partner in insurance at EY.

Matt Moran, PwC Luxembourg’s insurance industry leader and head of the insurance deals and value creation business in EMEA, says: “We have and continue to invest significantly in building our insurance practice to support the Luxembourg market and I have no doubt that Afaf will make a valuable contribution to both our team and clients alike”. Indeed, PwC says the insurance market is undergoing significant change, including those related to technology, sustainability and climate related impacts, regulation and capital requirements, low interest rates and the current sanitary crisis.

“I’m thrilled to return to Luxembourg and the growing insurance team at PwC”, said Hounka. “The Luxembourg insurance market is particularly special because of its unique international flavour as well as the engaging and open style of the sector’s management. Of course, during the time I’ve spent in other markets, the Luxembourg insurance ecosystem has flourished with so many new international companies establishing in the city.”
