“On a desert island, there’s no need for ethics” said Heinz von Foerster, the famous cyberneticist. Execatly this social and human aspect defines traditional ethics according to Aristotle. With this focus of human ethics, The House of Ethics™ was founded in 2021 by Katja Rausch, a pioneer in ethics applied to artificial intelligence, with a 25-year international career in management consulting in Paris and New York. At the same time, she was also a Professor in Information Systems and Data Ethics at the Sorbonne in Paris.
For nearly four years, The House of Ethics™, beyond its mission of AIEthics business consulting, has been dedicated to vigilance, information and dialogue on new technologies. Just as ethics and regulations have been bypassed by the frenetic pace of disruptive AI, ethics also needs a lifting to be effective and applicable to volatilities.
To this end, The House of Ethics™ has developed innovative cyber ethics frameworks respecting EU, OECD, UN and UNESCO regulations, as well as multidisciplinary AI Literacy training programs, mandatory since February 2025 for any European company using AI.
The team, comprising Daniele Proverbio, Director of Interdisciplinary Research, and Prof. Dr. Ingrid Vasiliu-Feltes, Director of Innovations, has been working since its inception on the socio-technological implications of emerging technologies such as edge computing, tiny or quantum computing, brain-machine interfaces (BCI) and quantum AI, which all require novel approaches to cyber-ethics.
In just four years, The House of Ethics™ has developed three unique concepts and applications in the field of digital ethics:
- Swarm Ethics™, a collective, decentralized approach to digital ethics;
- DoUtDes Cyber-Ethics, a 360° version of cyber-intelligence;
- Collective Ethics Builder, a collaborative application for businesses, enabling “ethics by design” to be integrated into corporate processes.
In 2025, The House of Ethics™ is launching a series of interdisciplinary conferences on AI and ethics in Luxembourg featuring international experts. The upcoming two will take place on May 15, 2025 from 6 to 8:30pm (CET) at Kinepolis in Luxembourg, and will be streamed online for a worldwide audience.
On May 15, the guest of honor is Oxford professor Carissa Véliz, author of “Privacy is Power”, an award-winning Economist Book of the Year.
On June 19, Prof Dr Ingrid Vasiliu-Feltes will be the Guest Speaker at the conference dedicated to AI, ethics and innovation.
