Mark Wiseman was appointed chair of Alter Domus, succeeding René Beltjens, as the firm looks to capitalise on new growth opportunities in alternative investment services.

Alter Domus, a Luxembourg-based global fund services provider, announced the appointment of Mark Wiseman as its new chair, in a press statemnet on 18 March 2025. Wiseman, who previously served as head of active equities and chair of BlackRock’s Alternatives Business, as well as president and CEO of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), takes over from René Beltjens. Beltjens, after a successful tenure, steps down but will continue to serve on the board.

The appointment of Wiseman comes as Alter Domus, which manages $3trn in assets under administration, looks to further strengthen its leadership in providing fund administration services across private equity, real assets and private debt. The firm’s focus on tech-enabled solutions aims to alleviate the operational and data challenges faced by CFOs and COOs of private markets firms, allowing asset managers to concentrate on generating returns for investors.

Rory Neeson, partner and head of Cinven’s Business Services sector team, acknowledged that Wiseman’s leadership will be essential in driving the firm’s next phase of growth. , CEO of Alter Domus, shared similar sentiments, highlighting Wiseman’s strong track record in institutional investment management and alternative assets. Hart also noted that Wiseman aligns with the firm’s strategic vision and its commitment to providing operational expertise and client service.

Alongside Wiseman, Alter Domus will continue to draw upon the expertise of its , Cinven, as well as other shareholders, including Permira and the firm’s original founders. Philip Muelder, partner and co-head of services at Permira, recognised the ongoing efforts of the supervisory board and leadership team in positioning Alter Domus for sustained success. Both Muelder and Beltjens expressed confidence that Wiseman’s appointment would guide the company through its next phase of growth.
