Applications for the Sustainability Awards 2022, organised by IMS and the Paperjam + Delano Club, are open starting this Wednesday. The aim is to honour Luxembourg companies that are active in the field of sustainable development.

Organised by IMS (Inspiring more sustainability) and Paperjam + Delano Club, this first edition will take place in October 2022, with the objective of highlighting and rewarding the best national sustainability practices implemented in organisations in Luxembourg.

“We have had the idea of Sustainability awards in mind for some time, especially thanks to our experience in organising such awards, such as with the Diversity awards launched since 2015. This year, IMS is celebrating its 15th anniversary, so it's the perfect time. We need to accelerate the movement and above all act with virtuous practices in favour of a more prosperous and sustainable society,” says IMS, which welcomes its partnership with Paperjam + Delano Club. The collaboration combines “IMS's expertise on sustainable development topics with that of Paperjam + Delano Club to mobilise local players around major events.”

Four categories

“While politicians continue to negotiate their country's agreements and commitments, we are launching an appeal to economic leaders: to accelerate the deployment of their carbon strategy to achieve carbon neutrality as quickly as possible, voluntarily and independently of politics,” says , president, founder and chairman of Maison Moderne, who had already “The Sustainability Awards are an opportunity to celebrate organisations that have already achieved success with projects and are of course a source of inspiration for others.”

Four separate categories will be awarded: People (youth, human rights, wellbeing at work, community engagement, volunteering, training, tackling over-indebtedness, new forms of work organisation), Planet (climate change, loss of biodiversity and natural resources, reducing waste, plastics and carbon emissions, eco-mobility, energy management, water land use, development of a new technology or product), Prosperity (responsible production and consumption, new economic approaches, social and solidarity economy, transparency and reporting) and Sustainability Team (rewarding a team that has implemented an innovative sustainable development project within its organisation and demonstrated its commitment).

Open to all

Participation is free of charge and open to any organisation based in Luxembourg, whether or not it is a member of the IMS or Paperjam + Delano Club, and regardless of its size, status and sector of activity. Applications will be open until midnight on 24 June and should be sent by e-mail to [email protected], attaching the application file (available on request at the same e-mail address) completed in Word format. “Organisations should not hesitate to apply in one or more categories, as we hope to receive a large number of applications for our juries,” comments IMS.

From the submissions received, a pre-jury of 16 independent experts, which will meet on 12 July, will select 12 nominated practices (three per category), which will in turn be evaluated by a jury. The four winning practices will be announced at a ceremony in October.

The evaluation criteria will include the degree of implementation, the impact, the innovative and replicable nature of the approach, the management method and the integration of the practice into a long-term approach.
