The Chamber of Deputies was evacuated by the police on Friday after a suspicious package was found at around 10am.

On 25 March, the parliament’s security service intercepted a “suspicious package addressed to the president of the chamber”, a statement said.

The building was evacuated immediately and police established a security perimeter around the parliament. An explosives team quickly gave the all clear and the perimeter was lifted at around 11.30am. There were no further details given about the package or its contents.

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Fernand Etgen (DP), was not on site as he has been isolating at home after testing positive for the coronavirus.
