Insurance company Baloise has announced the appointment of David Destappes as chief operating officer (COO), effective 1 October 2024.

David Destappes, Baloise Luxembourg’s newly named COO, has 30 years of experience in the life and non-life insurance sectors, noted a communiqué from the insurance company. He has worked at P&V in Belgium since 2013, holding the positions of director, head of P&C business development (personal & commercial line) and reinsurance; director, head of technical (P&C, life & EB); and head of strategic marketing & strategic communication brand. Prior to that, Destappes worked for Axa Belgium for 13 years. Previous experience include work at BRM Retail and P&C Actuary.

Destappes, who is 51 years old, is also active on several boards of directors, such as Brussels’ Centre Hospitalier Jean Titeca, the robotics and AI firm Botronics, the bike leasing firm Joule and the insurance company Vander Haeghen.

Headquartered in Leudelange, Baloise has been present in the grand duchy since 1890. It offers insruance services for private individuals and for companies, and is part of the Swiss group Baloise, which is also present in Belgium, Germany, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.
