The grand duchy’s energy minister Claude Turmes and defence and mobility minister François Bausch (both déi Gréng) from 5 to 7 September are on a working visit in Oslo.

A few days before Turmes is set to present a national strategy to counter the ongoing energy crisis, the government officials are meeting up with various actors in the energy sector in Norway. On the agenda are for instance a visit with Norwegian transport minister Jon-Ivar Nygård, as well as a visit to Equinor, a gas, petrol and wind turbine energy producer.

“For three days, I will, alongside Claude Turmes, hold intensive discussions with companies and political actors in Norway about sustainable mobility, green hydrogen, renewable energy,” Bausch said

The ministers will also meet with e-fuel business Norsk e-Fuel. In March 2022, lux-airport to invest in the company with the aim of seeing more sustainable aviation fuels produced.   

As the grand duchy--like all of Europe--grapples with the energy crisis, growing prices and cold winters ahead, Bausch and Turmes will also meet with Norwegian petrol and energy minister Terhe Aasland to talk about the transition to renewable energies.

In 2020, 77.4% of the northern country’s total energy consumption , compared to 11.7% in the grand duchy. Norway is the main supplier in natural gas for Luxembourg. 

Bausch will also meet ewith the ministry of defence to discuss the impact of climate change on the sector.
