Have you ever wondered what great conductors were like before they became superstars? At the Philharmonie, we have a first-hand insight…

He is a shooting star: at the age of 27, Klaus Mäkelä has already distinguished himself as one of the most promising maestros of his time. The young prodigy, who is the principal conductor of the Oslo Philharmonic, partner of the prestigious Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and musical director of the Orchestre de Paris, is coming to Luxembourg on 06.03. –a real pleasure for all of us!

Joined by soloist Janine Jansen, he will paint the walls of the Grand Auditorium in the colours of his native Finland with the help of Jean Sibelius, whose Violin Concerto has fascinated listeners for over 100 years. We will then get a taste of the life of an artist with Hector Berlioz and his epic Symphonie Fantastique, a musical self-portrait addressed to the actress Harriet Smithson, whose romantic interest he desperately tried to awaken. Will you fall in love with it too?

Despite the stark contrast between the tranquil Scandinavian modernist and fiery French Romantic, the two masterpieces presented by Mäkelä and the Orchestre de Paris will offer the conductor a chance to work his sonic magic.

So do not wait any longer: let yourself be carried away and book your next evening at the Philharmonie today. We wish you a wonderful journey!
