Dutch group Boels Rental has announced the opening of its second branch in the country, in Bertrange, almost twenty years after the first opened in Foetz (Mondercange) in 2006. Founded in 1977, the company has become a major group in its field, with over 4,000 employees worldwide. It also opened a new branch in Arlon at the end of 2023. The first Belgian branch was opened in 1991, followed by Germany in 1992. By 2024, it will have 830 branches in 27 countries.
The company, which has around twenty employees in Luxembourg, offers general rental, as well as a wide range of specialist kit in energy, washing and handling equipment, and air conditioning. Its products are aimed at both private DIY enthusiasts and international companies in a variety of sectors: construction, industry, commerce, horticulture, the food sector, etc. In addition, Boels has developed a 'green' range: modern equipment with 100% zero CO2 emissions. The company also provides consultancy services.
Today, Boels wants to concentrate more on the Luxembourg market. “The opening of Boels Bertrange, in partnership with Hornbach, certainly contributes to our expansion strategy based on proximity,” said Boels Belux managing director Tom van Hooydonk. “We want to be as close as possible to our customers in the centre of Luxembourg. This also creates new opportunities in our catchment area.”
Initially, the Bertrange site will not offer specialist equipment, as the company prefers to concentrate on its "soft start", said area manager Jean-Michel Moraux. But customers will still be able to order this specialist equipment. In 2022, the Luxembourg entity generated sales of €5.6m, and a profit of €63,583.
In January, Boels Rental obtained a €100m loan from the European Investment Bank to continue electrifying its range of machines and industrial tools. The Luxembourg site has benefited from this, with new equipment acquired thanks to the loan.
