MP and mayor of Echternach Carole Hartmann became the fourth female president of the DP this weekend. She succeeds Lex Delles, who intends to devote himself to his duties as a minister.

The score is almost North Korean. With 95.65% of the vote, Carole Hartmann succeeded as leader of the DP this weekend at the Democratic Party’s national convention. The 37-year-old lawyer, MP and mayor of Echternach is the fourth woman to head the party. Her post as general secretary will be taken over by Éric Thill.

In her inaugural speech in Limpertsberg, says the press release, the new party president came out clearly in favour of continuing the DP’s socio-liberal, solution-oriented and forward-looking orientation. Hartmann emphasised the party's political and programmatic strength--70 years after it was founded.

The party leadership and party bodies elected by the congress are composed as follows:

President:

First vice-president:

The steering committee is made up of: Michael Agostini, Jeffrey Drui, Géraldine Welkenbach, Marc Schuman (southern district); Robert L. Philippart, Patrick Michels, Christos Floros, Nicolas Kandel (central district); Angèle Mersch, Michel Goethals, Paula Fontoura de Morais, Denny Kanisza (northern district); Ben Ries, Martine Birkel, Carmen Friden and Hugo Da Costa (eastern district).
