This month, Champ Cargosystems announced that the Japan airline (JAL) has extended its partnership with the company for a further five-year period.

The company headquartered in Luxembourg--with offices in London, Zurich, Frankfurt, Manila, Singapore and Atlanta--revealed the partnership between both parties began over eight years ago and has seen Champ, a supplier of tech solutions for air freight, provide IT services that support the carrier’s business and operational air cargo automation needs.

Champ’s client base comprises of airlines such as Cathay Pacific, Air France, Turkish Airlines, Saudia Airlines, Qatar Airways, Lufthansa, and others. The renewal with the Japan carrier is one of many deals and renewals the company has seen during the year, including contract renewals with Mexican airline Estafeta Carga Aérea, Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and Turkish carrier MNG airlines.

“By extending their partnership with Champ, Cargospot will remain the IT keystone of JAL's cargo business,” the company revealed in a statement, adding that its Cargospot solution has been used by the airline since 2014 in managing daily cargo business processes, and that there have been other digital transformation projects built around the Cargospot ecosystem.

“JAL is a trusted partner of Champ and we have co-created transformational IT services that digitise the exchange of information in Japan with its key supply chain partners,” said Nicholas Xenocostas, VP Commercial & Customer Engagement at Champ Cargosystems. “Going forward, we have additional projects that are underway that focus on airmail services, revenue accounting and further leveraging our API connectivity services,” he explains.

Champ serves over 200 airlines and general sales agents (GSAs), and records over 300 million electronic exchanges each year.
