“It’s anti-cyclical,” laughs , manager of Chaussures Léon, as she talks about the opening of the shop in the Nordstrooss Shopping Mile in Marnach.
The 235m2 unit welcomed its first customers on Friday 20 September. The official opening is scheduled for 9 November. Two employees currently work there, and three full-time equivalents are planned.
This is the third outlet for the . Chaussures Léon has a “historic” address in the Gare district of the capital, and another--since 2020--at La Belle Étoile.
A tribute to her father
“It’s a beautiful location, with a medical centre just across the road, and no footwear offer in the vicinity. In the past, the former mayor of Clervaux had often asked me to move to the north of France, because it was hard to get shoes here. When the opportunity arose, I decided to go for it. For ten years, I was busy with other activities [Cahen was a minister between 2013 and 2023, editor’s note], which prevented me from taking the plunge. I love the spirit of the north. The people are very friendly and there’s a great atmosphere here,” says Cahen, who is also a member of parliament (DP) and deputy to the mayor of Luxembourg, (DP).
The family spirit----is all the more evident in this new address. “My father [André, whom she succeeded, editor’s note] was born in Ettelbruck, and grew up in the north,” says Cahen. “I’m sure he’d be proud of this shop.”
