a sub-organisation of the political party dedicated to foreign members, CSV International, is being renewed. At its national congress on Thursday 2 February, it elected its new committee for the period 2023-2025. was elected as the new president.
Moraru had already chaired CSV International between December 2018 and April 2021, before being replaced by Saad Nabbi. In May, she became deputy secretary general of the party, a position she still holds.
Originally from Romania, she runs Languages.lu / Group Moraru, her language training company. She also founded Femmes Leader Luxembourg and the federation for Luxembourg women CEOs (FFCEL). In addition, she is a member of the Equal Opportunities Commission and the Integration Commission of the City of Luxembourg, according to her LinkedIn profile. Before that, she worked in marketing and project management in several companies and organisations, among others.
A whole new committee
Within CSV International, she had launched in 2017 a campaign called #letsdemystifypolitics, including around 20 events in which 1,200 people participated. Before her election, she presented the motion “integration and inclusion" to the congress, which was voted unanimously. In it, she proposed, for example, simultaneous translation into French and English of meetings in Luxembourgish (information, municipal councils, parliamentary sessions), or a review of the certification process of diplomas to enable people to enter the labour market more quickly.
CSV International has 1,000 members, i.e., 10% of the party's membership, and will celebrate its 15th anniversary this year.
The rest of the committee consists of Sahil Goel, vice-president, Gerta Shaqe, general secretary, Roberto Baptista, deputy secretary, and the 11 members, Bernard Biggar, Maria Candela, Thomas Ertl, Marlena Filimon, Carlos Garcia de la Fuente, Sri Kolla, Sazzath Hossain, Matthias Malzer, Amel Meftah, Himanshu Upadhyay and Oleksander Zalishchuk.
