Consumer confidence in Luxembourg takes another hit in March 2025, following February’s significant fall, Luxembourg Central Bank data shows.

The consumer confidence indicator, which tracks the monthly outlook of grand duchy’s households on both the national economy and their personal finances, declined again in March 2025, following a in February.

The Luxembourg Central Bank (BCL) reported on 28 March 2025 that while households’ views on their financial situation and the general economic outlook for Luxembourg showed some improvement in March, their intentions to make major purchases fell sharply. This suggests that despite more optimism about the future, consumers are holding back on major spending, possibly due to lingering uncertainties in the market.

This indicator is calculated by BCL by averaging four seasonally adjusted factors: consumers’ outlook on the general economic situation, their perception of their financial situation over the past year, their financial expectations for the year ahead, and their plans for major purchases. The resulting score is determined by subtracting the percentage of negative responses from the percentage of positive responses.
