Commutes are out. Flexible working is in. Luxembourg has an exciting array of coworking spaces, with more on the way.

Coworking and flexible workspaces are growing more popular everywhere--accelerated by the pandemic--and Luxembourg is no exception. As of mid-2023, there are an estimated 80 coworking locations in the grand duchy, totalling some 70,000 square meters or 2% of the total office space. Although this is proportionally less than, say, the UK (where the latter percentage is as high as 4-5%), William Willems, regional general manager of IWG (and who provided these estimates), sees the trend going upwards.

“By the end of 2027 or 2028, we would like to at least have doubled our network,” he says, referring to IWG’s current 11 locations. Of particular interest in Luxembourg is office space near the border, to better accommodate cross-border workers.

“The market is clearly asking for more satellite offices,” comments Willems, citing the country’s infamous traffic jams as part of the reason. Large companies are very much in on the flexibility trend, he adds.

IWG, which owns Regus and Spaces, hosts over 1,000 companies in Luxembourg. But there are many other options: Baumhaus and 1535° Creative Hub cater slightly more to an artistic/independent scene, while Silversquare, The Office, the Luxembourg City Incubator (and IWG’s Spaces) are chic, synergy-oriented options.
