Crown Prince Guillaume and Crown Princess Stéphanie are expecting a sibling for Prince Charles, their first child who was born on 10 May 2020.
“The Grand Duke, the Grand Duchess and the members of both families are united in this great happiness,” says a statement issued by the lord chamberlain on Thursday afternoon.
The first in line to the throne, Crown Prince Guillaume married Stéphanie de Lannoy on 19 October 2012 at a ceremony attended by many of Europe’s most prominent royals.
The baby due in April 2023 will be the sixth grandchild for Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa.
